Maicon De Abreu scored four goals Friday as the Ontario Fury clinched an MASL playoff spot with a 12-5 win over the Turlock Express at the Turlock Indoor Soccer Arena.
Ontario (12-8) moves on to face the Pacific Division champion San Diego Sockers (13-6) in the divisional round of the playoffs. The series will open March 12 at Valley View Casino Center for Game 1, with Game 2 set to take place at Citizens Business Bank Arena on March 14.
The Fury took a 6-0 lead at the end of the first period with Leonardo De Oliveira supplying a goal and an assist.
De Abreu scored twice in the second, with each goal assisted by De Oliveira. Turlock’s goal came in at 7:44 into the second from Jose Barajas with an assist from Jorge Carmona.
Selvin Bonilla and Barajas each scored for the Express in the third, followed by a Carlos Manzo goal in the fourth to close the gap to 10-6.
“Chico” Franciscon Cordeiro and De Oliveira scored Ontario’s final two goals in the fourth.
